APHL Hemoglobinopathy Workgroup Webinar: Transfusion Confusion – Identifying Newborns that Have Been Transfused and What to do About It
We invite you to join the APHL Hemoglobinopathy Workgroup for an upcoming webinar on Transfusion Confusion - Identifying Newborns that Have Been Transfused and What to do About It.

Prior to the webinar, please prepare answers for the following poll questions:

1. Roughly what percent of your specimens have RBS transfusions?
2. How long after an RBC transfusion do you request another screen for hemoglobins if there was no pre-transfusion screen?
3. When you suspect a transfusion pattern on the hemoglobin screening results, but the NBS collection form is not marked transfused, do you contact the birthing facility to verify a date and time of transfusion?
4. Do you follow-up on babies that are transfused with hemoglobin S present as though they could be an FS/ positive sickle cell screen if they did not receive a pre-transfusion screen?
